Looks like things are going well for Sammy Sosa, post-retirement from pro baseball.

His latest venture is Injex 21, which touts needle-free injections -- a product that Yahoo Sports says is "straight out of 'Star Trek.'" (We'd link you to Injex 21's site, but it's down right now.)

The retired pro slugger closed on a $7.6 million oceanfront estate in the Golden Beach area of North Miami Beach -- just in time for his 45th birthday, which was Nov. 12.

Built in 1998, the home is set on about half an acre with 75 feet fronting the ocean. Among its unusual features are "massive stainless-steel double-entry doors" to an inner courtyard with a koi pond, and "his/hers baths & Jacuzzi,"according to the listing(Click here or on the photo to go to a slideshow.) Sosa, a confessed clotheshorse who says "the way that I dress says everything," will probably also appreciate the home's three walk-in closets.

The home last sold for $6.4 million, back in 2002. Before that, it sold for $3.7 million in 2000. (Nice profit someone made there!) Still, Sosa seems to have done pretty well on the purchase, considering: It was listed at $9.95 in 2010, but didn't sell; more recently, the sellers sought $8.9 million, then cut the price to $7.9 million before Sosa picked it up at $7.6 million.

The house has seven bedrooms and 8.5 bathrooms in its 7,273 square feetListing agent Nelson Gonzalez tellsYahoo Homes that he believes Sosa plans "some renovations." (We asked because we'd heard that Sosa might intend to add on.)

“Sammy is a big fan of Miami, and it’s wonderful that he has chosen to purchase a home here,” Gonzalez said in a news release. "This is one of the most beautiful homes in all of Golden Beach. I’ve no doubts he is truly going to enjoy it."
